Towards Zero Waste Operating Theatres

JUNE 2021

University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust (UHBW) and the Bristol and Weston Procurement Consortium are committed to supporting the transition to a circular economy.

Working with our clinical staff we have identified an unmet need for a range of solutions, services and alternative products that will support the transition to zero waste operating theatres.

This initiative is supported by NHS England and NHS Improvement and has attracted considerable interest from other NHS Trusts and networks. More information is available in the Joint Statement of Demand

We are now opening a period of market sounding and consultation to identify solutions and alternatives that are available, will be available within the next two years, or could be available in the future given the right market conditions. We are also seeking to identify opportunities for the co-creation of innovative solutions with suppliers.

We invite expressions of interest from all parts of the supply chain and invite you to provide feedback by completing a short Market Survey and look forward to receiving your response.

PLEASE RESPOND BY 5 October 2021

Market Consultation Online Events

Thank you for all the helpful and informative responses we have so far received.

We have taken the decision to delay the online event to enable a full and thorough market consultation.

If you have expressed interest, we will keep up updated and will also post further updates on this web-page.

This page will be updated as the project progresses.
